Common Questions

An inspection report is a formal document that records the results of quality checks on manufactured parts. It lists each feature or dimension measured, the specification it must meet, the actual value found, and whether the part passes or fails. Machine shops use inspection reports to prove parts meet drawing requirements.
You need an inspection report whenever a customer requires documented proof of quality. Common cases include first article inspections, lot acceptance testing, aerospace or defense contracts, and any time your quality system calls for recorded measurements. Many ISO 9001 shops generate inspection reports for every production lot.
Click the "Download PDF" button below the form. A clean PDF file will save to your computer. The filename includes your company name, part name, and report number. Works in Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox.
Disposition is the final decision on what happens to the inspected parts. "Accept" means parts meet all requirements. "Reject" means parts are scrapped or returned. "Rework" means parts need additional machining to bring them into spec. "Concession" means parts are accepted with a documented deviation from the original specification.
